Two weeks ago Hunter and I were given the opportunity to attend a private advanced screening for the new Universal Pictures film, Despicable Me.
It. Was. Awesome.
Here’s the thing with me. When it comes to kid movies I tend to get bored halfway through. But this movie had my attention and me laughing throughout the whole movie. And not just me either, the entire movie theater kept erupting in laughter which makes me laugh even harder because you have a bunch of adults laughing at a kids movie.
To describe this movie in one word: Fun.
Hunter couldn’t stop talking about it for days, he kept telling people about certain parts in the movie that were funny, he loved it. After seeing it, I think Hunter and I may go see it again once it comes out. I know its definitely one DVD I’ll be buying in the future and honestly I can’t wait for it to come out on DVD already!
The movie is about a super- villain named Gru (Steve Carell) who lives in a happy suburban neighborhood in a big black house with dead lawn. Hidden beneath his home is a secret hideout, home to an army of (lovable) yellow minions. These little yellow minions remind me of the penguins in Madagascar- (they’ll get their own show eventually I’m sure). Gru delights in all things wicked. Armed with his arsenal of shrink rays, freeze rays and battle-ready vehicles for land and air, he vanquishes all who stand in his way. Gru and his minions are planning the worlds biggest heist. He is going to steal the moon!
But first he keeps getting one-up’d by another villain, Vector. So Gru does what any villain would do. He adopts three little girls named Margo, Edith and Agnes to help him defeat Vector. Except of course, these three little orphaned girls who seem him as no one else has ever seen him as: a potential Dad.

The casting consists of Steve Carell, Julie Andrews, Miranda Cosgrove, Kristen Wiig, Jason Segel and Russell Brand just to name a few.
Despicable Me hits theaters July 9 in 3-D CGI. Now, I’m not a big 3-D fan but this movie had some great 3-D action that made it totally worth it. I for one think this movie will be THE movie to see this summer.
