I have to say that I am sad to see the Olympic games end. I love the Olympics. Both summer and winter, I get uber excited and watch it as much as I can. Its a novelty that you only get every two years…well four years for each game but you know what I mean. I missed some of the closing ceremonies but the parts I did see….well, I have some thoughts on those that I’d like to share.
- William Shatner. His speech was entertaining but honestly the only part I remember was him saying something about “making love in a canoe.” Yup, that got my attention. I ended up fixated on that for quite sometime after. I even tweeted how I don’t think I would want to pick the splinters out of my ass from having sex in a canoe. Although, the thought of it rocking back and forth…trying not to tip it, which may actually not be that bad after all because then you would just end up doing the hanky panky in the water, it could be exciting.
- Catherine O’Hara came out screaming about something or other and snapped me out of my canoe fantasy. But I quickly got back to my intimate thoughts.
- Micheal Buble. Sang…er lip synched dressed as a Mountie with four female backup dancers also dressed as Mounties. The chicks reminded me more of Santa’s little helpers than anything.
- Was that Neil Young or the guy from Poltergeist??
- Giant beavers. Huh? Giant beavers being led by lumberjacks. Yup that visual totally sent my mind back down in the gutter. Thanks IOC. Watching the way those lumberjacks handled those beavers…I think I’d like to find me a lumberjack.
- I unfortunately missed what Micheal J. Fox was saying…thanks to William Shatner and his canoe. But he looked great!
So all in all, it was a very entertaining closing ceremony. I just wish I had caught the first half. Vancouver did a fabulous job hosting the 2010 winter Olympics and these Olympic games were awesome to watch.
Was this a dream or was that really the Olympic Closing Ceremony?

LOL I didn’t watch the Olympics so obviously missed the closing ceremonies….from the sounds of it…glad I did LOL. Though I’m sure I’d be entertained with and lost in dirty dirty thoughts with the whole canoe thing too!!!!!
You’re funny! Thanks for the laugh. I needed it! Hey Brittany, I thought I was the only one who didn’t watch the Olympics! HAHAHAHAHA!!!
I should have gone to the Olympics. My mom and brother only live an hour south of Vancouver.
thanks for the laugh. I needed this.
I missed the closing ceremonies but I adore the Olympics (both of them too!) If I knew a lumberjack, I’d certainly introduce you…maybe you’ll meet one in Vermont. I dunno, go get some maple stuff.
Yeah, I saw Neil Young…he ain’t so young anymore. LOL And my husband told me about William Shatner’s speech and references to sex in a canoe & the Canadian health care system being so great you can use it to get the splinters out of your ass after canoe sex. LOL
Ro like the moose balloon & the conga line.
Loved it, lol! I missed the closing ceremonies because I thought it’d be nothing more than Bob Costas waxing poetic smarmy recollections. Sorry I missed it now! Although I’m not a big fan of giant beavers, the lumberjacks and mounties would have made it worth it. Thanks for sharing!
I can haz more screengrabs?
I sat through a lot of the closing ceremonies with WTF? written on my face. Sex in a canoe? Beavers? I just did not think it went with the pageantry of the Olympics, you know? I know the closing ceremonies are more laid back than the opening ceremonies but c’mon … beavers?
And all I could think about with William Shatner was DENNY CRANE.
OK, I’d have to admit, I didn’t watch the closing ceremony. I watched most of the opening ceremony and it was pretty good. I also watched almost all of the games, only missed anything aired after 10PM EST and maybe one or two days max of them.
From this post, I’m glad I did miss the closing ceremony though LOL
Funny! Thanks! I needed that
