In lieu of the recent economic crisis, I have decided to save some money and color my hair at home. I know, daring. But really, how bad can it be? I’m a natural ash blonde, and I just want to make it a little lighter. No big deal right?
Q. What does a blonde dress up as for Halloween?
A. A redhead!

Here’s what my hairdresser said:
It depends on how many times she has colored it at 1 time. If it was just once and it’s redish chances r she was darker to begin with cause darker hair has red undertones. Anyhow an ash color will help but not sure if it will solve the problem since I haven’t seen her personally.she can color right away if it was just the 1 time but hair will b a little dryer. If her hair is really light blonde in certain areas and not showing red tones b careful cause that will grab green useing an ash. If the hair is all redish an ash will help.

Uh -oh. I would be SO mad. Dumb CVS lady. Yeah, I’m sure she makes TONS more money working at CVS than she would have as a hairdresser. Probably couldn’t get a clientel. That’s so frustrating though, especially when you were just trying to save some money

Actually, I kinda like the bit of strawberry blonde! Great for the season.
My hair is ashe too… but I have lots & lots of nasty white (gray) ones esp in the front.
So even with a professional hair colorist, which I can only use occasionally, I never get the color I want!
Yours looks nice, all be it for the blonder ends (G) Mine turns our like Bozo orange!
try & let that grow out! So I usually do it at home with a semi-color.
Tho one time I did get a color I wanted, it did not last long, but it was fun while it did…

Aww, that sucks! I’m naturally an ash blond too. You have to really be careful when doing home colors , I have actually turned my hair green before ! Hope you get it fixed , and can be the beautiful blond again, not that you aren’t beautiful with red hair !
I used to be a hairdresser… really!! But I gave it up when I had kids. The at home hair colors are way more tricky than you would think… its all about the color wheel and cools and warms and levels.. not necessarily colors themselves! I think you still look beautiful, but call me if you ever want to color it at home again… I will drive out and help!
Girl…I would totally drive out to you!! It would give us another excuse to drink wine and get the kids together!!
