The big thing around here for St. Patricks Day is the Southie parade. Every year South Boston holds an enormous St. Patty’s Day parade on the sunday before March 17. The streets are filled with on-lookers from all over, completely decked out in green. Its so much fun to see what people show up in…talk about Irish spirit. The saying “Everyone is Irish on St. Patricks Day” holds true during the parade, however most of Southie is Irish. Its not even really all about the parade either, its about the parties before and after the parade. Good food and beer!
We go to the parade every year. My boyfriend lives in Southie and I work with a girl who lives there too, so we’ve always had a place to go. We usually enjoy the festivities before the parade, watch the parade which lasts 2 hours, and go back and enjoy some more festivities. Its the one constant of the year that we both look forward too.
