It’s official. I hate Christmas trees!! I actually LOVE them! I love getting real ones…there’s just something about the smell and the look of them that i love. But right now, i hate them!! This is the second year in a row the damn thing has fallen over!! And this year I got a new stand too!!
Last year, it fell and broke a shit-load of ornaments, including Hunters first christmas ornament…which i still have to hear about. But this year, its been fine all day long. Standing straight up in this heavy-duty ultra-deluxe-you’re-tree-will-never-fall-again-stand until we put just about every single ornament on it. Oh yeah, it couldn’t do it when we first started….oh noooo….it had to fall as soon as we were done. Luckily, i caught the stupid thing before it hit the floor and nothing broke. But then stood there holding it up with one hand for about 15 minutes (i’m so not exaggerating) while my son hopped around panicking, and i tried to figure out what the hell to do. I had Hunter call some people to see if anyone was around to help me put the tree back in the base upright, but do you think anyone was around?? Nooo!!
Somehow i managed to hold the tree up while laying under it and unscrewed it, then straightened it and re-screwed it in. Yup, all by myself!! I’m sure it was quite the sight to see. So, momma saved the day…yet again! Another disaster diverted…for now.
Its standing there now but i swear its mocking me and its just waiting until i go to bed to topple over again. I have always loved Christmas trees but for whatever reason they seem to hate me and have it out for me! I think next year i may forfeit the real one and get a fake one.

OMG, are you sure we don’t share the same Christmas tree?? LOL… although as you know, it’s my stupid ass cat that constantly knocks the tree down! We have it screwed in with one of those heavy duty bases, but since it’s not a real tree, it doesn’t work quite well. I actually had the crazy thought on my way to work that I would throw away my crappy tree and buy a REAL one and start all over again, but I don’t know if I’ll have the guts to do that! LOL… you’re quite the momma!!
oh boy, this has happened to me before. The key to success here is to really really screw that sucker in there, twist those turny things until they are practically inside the stupid tree trunk, its hard, and it takes forever but should hold it.
OMG–I feel your pain! The same thing happened to us a couple years ago–we had just finished decorating and the tree came down hard. All the kids and I were standing amongst the broken ornaments crying!
I hope this time youre stays up!! But it’s lucky you caught it on the way down!
Hello from a fellow blond!
We had that problem for a couple years until we took some heavy twine, and put it around the truck about 3/4 up the tree, knotted the ends together and then used one of those screw in cup hook things into our moulding to hold the tree up. Worked BEAUTIFULLY!
LOL! Our Christmas tree is a puny fake one. But I’ve said why cant we just put it up on Christmas Eve. I’m chasing Kelsie and three cats out of it all day!!
oohhhh – so sorry.
Yes, as much as I love real trees, I do appreciate the ease and stability of the fake versions.
hope you kiss and make up.

This has never happened, but I would be so frustrated and would throw a fit if any of my ornaments were broken in the process. Is it just weighter on one side? Maybe if you spun it towards a wall on the heavier side it wouldn’t do that again? I don’t know? But, I do agree that the smell of a real tree is wonderful and I wish we could fit one in our house. We had to get a super slim fake this year just to be able to have a tree at all.
O no! That is a terrible story; yet you write it so well! I snorted several times reading it
I hope your tree stays up for Christmas day!
Thanks for a funny post! You made my day. *snort*
