Yesterday, was our 6 month cleaning at the dentist. It was for Hunter not me. He goes to a child-only dental center, which i love b/c they are so good and patient… not that he’s a problem at all. I swear he’s probably the only kid in America who actually likes going to the dentist. He gets to hold “Mr. Thirsty” (the sucker) and he can’t wait for them to clean his teeth.
Needless to say he has yet another cavity! Every time we go he has either one or two. They say his brushing is great but i fear its my fault he has so many cavities because I’ve always been prone to them. Yes, i have a mouth full of silver that’ll make anyone rich! I could’ve pawned all my baby teeth with the fillings in them and probably made a fortune.
Anyways, back to his cavity. Now, we were just at the dentist six months ago, so not only does he have a cavity but apparently it is so deep they might need to scoop out part of the nerve and put a silver crown over his tooth!! What?!? A crown!! We were just here! How is it possible he can get a cavity so severe in just six months?!?
Next week we go back for the filling/ possible crown. I’m hoping they’ll get in there, not touch the nerve, and just fill it normally.
I’m really not liking the idea of my six year old going into first grade looking like 50cent! I can see it now. “Check out my bling!” or “I’m gettin grills next” or “Yeah, i got a silver tooth, yo.” It’s just a baby tooth, I’d rather they just yank the damn thing out!!

My oldest girl has 4 silver caps (I think she was 5 when she got them; she’s 7 now). And she hates the dentist… she had to go into the hospital and be put under anesthesia in order to get the caps on!
oh poor little guy! i take my boys to a pedatric dentist as well and THEY LOVE GOING!
Oh man. You sound like me! I have always had teeth issues…soft enamel or something irritating. ANYWAY…I guess I understand the whole “fix it so teeth don’t shift while they grow in” and crap, but man, you can’t help but think about the money! Maybe when that tooth comes out you can make a necklace with it or something.
And this will probably keep Hunter from getting picked on…everyone will think he’s a bad-ass!
Poor Guy – Me too. My mouth is full of silver and gold. I hope he does not have to get a full crown. Does he drink tap water? I heat that our kids are drinking to much bottled water so they do not get the fluoride.
I am sure my daughter will need some tooth bling too. My mouth is covered in it, so I can’t judge too much!
